Abstract
The article is drawn on semi-structured interviews with Muscovite football fans of “Spartak”, “Dynamo”, “Torpedo” and “TsSKA”, conducted in 2014. Based on the concrete case of the relation towards the national football team, this article aims at analyzing its role in the construction of relations toward politics and its expression in the football sphere. First, the article shows how the support towards the national team can act as a catalyst for patriotic feelings. Second, it focuses on how the relation to the national team can lead to the construction of a critical political discourse.
